The Art Explorers Club is a 6 week art class for kids 8-12. Each week the kids explore a different imaginary world using new materials and art concepts. Kids feel like explorers, inventors and storytellers—in addition to being artists.

In Week 1, the kids visit a secret land and imagine a world no one has seen before. They will design a map or landscape of their own hidden world using markers, crayons and drawing paper. They will learn about art techniques of foreground and background.

In week 2, the kids will discover what lies beneath the waves in their imaginary world. They will create vibrant underwater scenes with invented sea creatures and glowing coral cities utilizing watercolor, sponges and salt. They will explore the art technique of color mixing.

In week 3, the project will focus on space and mixed media. The kids will design a brand-new planet in their universe and will study pattern and scale. They will utilize oil pastels, black paper and splatter paint.

In week 4, they will study sculpture and scale in creating their imaginary tiny worlds. They will sculpt mini fairy villages, bug cities of microscopic worlds hidden inside boxes.

Week 5 will focus on design and architecture as the kids imagine what cities will look like in 100 years. They will fabricate futuristic cities with flying cars, robot helpers and eco-buildings using the art technique of collage.

In week 6, these young artists will explore visual storytelling as they combine their favorite techniques into a perfect imaginary world.

Classes are 1:00-2:30 on February 7, 14, 21 and 28 and March 7 and 14. Click below to register.
