The Story Squad

Introducing the Story Squad! A fun, welcoming book club for kids ages 8-12 who love stories, imagination and sharing ideas. Each group reads an age-appropriate book and meets to talk, create and connect through stories. Big adventures. New friendships. Thoughtful conversations. The books will be provided for foster kids, kids adopted from foster care or in relative placement and low income kids. Kids not in these groups are certainly welcome but we ask that the bring their own copies of the book.

Story Squad for 8-10

Our younger Story Squad will be reading The Wild Robot by Robert Brown. This heartful and adventurous story is perfect for curious readers who love animals, nature and big ideas. We’ll explore themes of kindness, survival and what it means to belong—through discussion and fun activities.

Story Squad for11-12

Our older story squad will be reading Alone by Megan Freeman. Told in powerful verse, this gripping story follows a young girl navigating survival, resistance and hope. It is a great fit for readers who are ready for deeper conversations and emotional storytelling.
