Student Exhibitions

Twice a year, the work that Kids Place Lex children make in the classroom moves onto the walls of a real gallery—because that is exactly where it belongs. Every January, Kids Place Lex participates in Lexington’s Gallery Hop at LexArts, 161 N. Mill Street, where student artwork from fall and early winter programs is displayed forthe public. Approximately 300 people attend. Every May, a second exhibition is held at Faith Lutheran Church, 1000 Tates Creek Road. showcasing work from late winter and spring programs, with approximately 150 in attendance.

At both exhibitions, Fayette County Family Court Judge Tiffany Yahr personally presents certificates of completion to every child who finished a program. A sitting family court judge—who sees many of these same or similarly situated children in her courtroom—shows up in a gallery to applaud them. This is not lost on the children who receive those certificates or the people who support them.

At the January 2026 exhibition, Kids Place Lex welcomed a very special guest” Miss Kentucky 2025, Ariana Rodriguez, herself a former foster child, who joined Judge Yahr in presenting certificates and spending time with our students. Her presence sent a powerful message to every child in that room about what is possible.

All exhibitions are free and open to the public.
